1 Story of Impact
On Friday, October 27, we held our fifth annual Many Hands Impact Breakfast, and as this video shows, it exceeded my expectations. Before my time to speak, a candid picture was snapped of me, and when I saw it after the event, it took my breath away. In the picture, I am praying before my time to go up on stage to share about the legacy impact we can have in people’s lives. Taken right behind my son’s head, it is the perspective of seeing this moment through his eyes. Visible on my right ring finger is my father’s 50th wedding anniversary ring, given to me by my mother after my dad passed away almost two years ago. We never know the legacy moments, but we can choose to make the everyday decisions to point towards something greater than ourselves. My 13-year-old’s greatest teacher is going to be me, not through the words I share but through the actions he sees me live. On that morning, my son saw his dad praying before he took the stage to point people toward their Heavenly Father. He witnessed me sharing stories of my father, honoring him and the life he lived to help me stand on his shoulders. My prayer is that the life I live gives my son the firm footing to stand on my shoulders, to see farther, and to love more deeply than I ever could.
