  1. The change we desire for ourselves can be directly correlated to those in our inner circle. Does your inner circle reflect the person you want to become?
  2. If someone brings joy to your life, spend more time with them. If someone drags you down, spend less time with them. It isn’t complicated, but it needs to be intentional. Who do you need to be intentional with this week?
  3. Loving yourself also means having a higher standard for those you let influence you. Does your circle need to decrease in size but increase in value?

1 Story of Impact

An African proverb states, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” Sitting in a circle on our last day of a 3-day strategic board retreat, I couldn’t agree with these words more. Many Hands has been blessed with amazing Board Members who are willing to go deep in guidance, relationships, and spiritual growth for the betterment of those we serve. Our Board President, Eric Recker, who is terming out of the board this year, sums it up best. “There are a lot of boards I’m happy to leave at the end of my term. This isn’t one of them.” Over the past decade, each of the board members has made each other better. And in particular, they have made me better as a leader, a father, and as a child of God. They don’t slow down the transformation happening; rather, they increase the speed of the needed growth. Take a look at the people around you on a daily basis. Do they speed up the needed transformation in you, or do they slow it down? Who in your life is challenging you in a good way or is helping you to be the best version of yourself? Who are you spending time with to help them become the best version of themselves? The people you surround yourself with will be one of the most important factors in your end destination. Be intentional about who you spend time with, as it has forever consequences in the long game.
