3 Points to Ponder
- Our perspectives shape our realities. How is your perspective right now? It is true, just, and kind in the way it sees the world?
- Wishing isn’t a helpful strategy by which to live a life of impact because it puts unrealistic expectations on ourselves and others. As you are in the midst of this Christmas season, how realistic are your expectations?
- Generosity is always a good choice since it frees your heart from that which binds. Who needs an extra bit of generosity from you this Christmas season?

1 Story of Impact
Standing in line at an event, I overheard a startling statement from a lady wearing a shirt with a Christian affiliation: “I wish Christmas was over.” This was on December 14. As this statement connected in my brain, I thought to myself, “How sad!” It got me thinking, how many of us live in the, “I wish something were different” mindset instead of being present and enjoying the season we are in. Can the Christmas season be busy? Yes, it absolutely can, but it is only as busy as you make it. Can family be overwhelming, maddening, or a whole other list of emotions? Yes, it can be, but we can also appreciate them for who they are and not what we want them to be. Does that mean you have to agree with them? No, absolutely not, but we can also find some good in everyone if we look hard enough. It is all a matter of perspective. What is your perspective right now? Are you living in the “I wish this” or “I wish that” mindset or are you able to enjoy what is and find goodness in the now? As people of impact, we are to live a higher calling and that requires a higher level of thinking. As it says in Romans 12:2, do not conform to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. It is in this God starts to reveal His good and pleasing will. During this Christmas season, may the King of Peace come into your life to bring His presence in the midst of your chaos so you do not wish your life away. Don’t run from life hoping something better is around the corner, as good can be found in the here and now if you have eyes to see.
