See how the Kamerman-IMPACT team spent their Sunday in Abaco. While Julie and Joel Veenstra remind us of the importance of resting on the Sabbath, they also remind us that it is a time meant to be spent with God and others.
This morning we began our day with breakfast and devotions at Camp. As Tyler read through four passages, we could see the sun over the ocean and hear the sound of the wind and the waves.

- Mark 2:25-28 | The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath
- Genesis 2:2-4 | God rested on the 7th day, the Sabbath
- Ezekiel 20:11-12 | I (God) gave them a weekly Sabbath
The Bible tells us resting on the Sabbath is a mandate; a day we create margin to be with God and others, and allow Him to take over. As we launched day three in the community, these verses became a perfect introduction to a day of worship (time with God) and service (time with others). Our team worshiped at Kirk of the Pines and we were both surprised and blessed to begin with the hymn “How Great Thou Art.” It was a moment when I realized (on the Island of Abaco) we were experiencing a little slice of heaven on earth. We had traveled over 1,400 miles and easily found God’s people.
After church, we had lunch at a restaurant called Colors Bahamian Restaurant, located right on the water. Beautiful place for lunch with great food.
We did “food distribution” this afternoon. Words really can’t do justice to the experiences. With the help of Pastor George, we entered people’s homes, we encouraged, we delivered food, and we prayed. The living conditions were meager, and many of the folks were battling a number of serious health conditions. However, their faith was strong and all expressed a general degree of contentment. May we also be content in all things through Him who gives us strength.
