3 Points to Ponder
- “We always overestimate what we can get done in one day, but we typically underestimate what we can do in a year. Fast forward the tape to 12 months from now. What do you want to accomplish during this next season?”
- “Healthy reflection is needed to sustain healthy growth. How is reflection time going for you?”
- “We are creatures of the recent, remembering the latest experience and forgetting what came before. This can help or hurt, depending on the situation. What do you need to remember today? What do you need to let go of?”

1 Story of Impact
In the natural rhythm of life, now is typically a time when most people pause for a few moments to think about the past 12 months. With the pace of life, this becomes more and more important in order to ground ourselves on our desired path, not the cultural path. Without even knowing it, hours go by wasted, scrolling through Twitter, binging on a Netflix series, or on mindless video games on our phones. Ask yourself these three questions today:
- Am I a better version of myself than 12 months ago?
- Is my current life trajectory in the direction I want to go?
- Are my current relationships helping or hurting me to become the best version of myself?
Take some time with these three questions and answer them honestly. Make small adjustments as needed, as wholesale changes rarely last. As I was thinking through these questions for Many Hands, I penned a letter to our donors and staff on the last 12 months and the next 12 months. Our marketing team graciously put it into video form and it is powerful to watch. I challenge you to do something similar for your last season and the season to come to help ground and guide you in your impact.
