1 Story of Impact
On July 7, 2022, it marked the one-year anniversary of President Jovenel Moise’s assassination in his Petionville home. Our team did an interview with our Cement Floor Crew, having now installed over 1,000 cement floors into homes in Haiti. These men are typical Haitian citizens, and it’s interesting to get their voices.
“He represented all of us in Haiti. When you hear this happened to someone like Moise, it is really frustrating. You don’t feel happy about it. When you have misery in your house, and across the country, and don’t have confidence because a poor image has been portrayed of your house. To this day, I’m not happy about it. We don’t have a President. We don’t have someone to look out for us.” -Jean Rene Deforge, Construction Manager
Confidence has the power to bring people to new heights or plunge them into deeper darkness. Confidence is a bedrock foundation for creating lasting change. As people of impact, we all can point to people, circumstances, and faith that catapult us to new places in our journey. We also can point to times when we lost confidence and the slippery slope it creates in all aspects of our life. In this interview, they started by talking about the loss of their President, but they didn’t stay there. They moved to how they are changing their community, despite the fear, and all the good things they can do through installing cement floors. As you evaluate your life, where are areas you are proceeding with confidence? What about areas you lack confidence?
