Where are you on your faith journey? Join Immanuel CRC IMPACT Team members Dave and Ian as they open up about parallels they see between home building and our lives. The group is listening to stories and bringing joy to the island of Abaco!

When the work group arrived at the worksite this morning, the homeowner was there waiting for us. As we interacted with her and heard her story, we felt that we were bringing joy back into her life. When she entered her home, which she had not seen for over a week, she was surprised at the progress we had made.

For us, it was a time of encouragement to know we made her smile. She stayed around for a while and soon left to get some rest, since she worked nights.

Another group went back to CAPS for another day to interact with the children by reading to them.

A short break for lunch and then back to work on Tracy’s house, but then some went off to work at a different location and paint.

Both homes will be beautiful when finished, but the contrast was very noticeable in size and finish. That is a little like ourselves when we are first saved and begin our Christian journey. Some will be more dynamic, while others will be small and quiet.

So here in Abaco, not only is our goal to help and rebuild homes, but also to help and restore lives.

God Bless.

– Dave & Ian

This profile represents the collective voice of our Many Hands Impact teams. The reflections shared here are written by everyday individuals, from students and parents to local community members, who have traveled to Haiti and Abaco to experience the mission firsthand. They are not full-time staff. They are volunteers stepping out in faith to be love in action. In these posts, you will read raw, unpolished stories of personal transformation. Our guest writers document the shared humanity discovered while working alongside local leaders on safe structures, education initiatives, and community development. Impact trips are designed to change the participant as much as the community they serve. Through their words, you get a front row seat to the exact moments people discover their purpose and learn to live with intention.
