After a late-night storm, our dorms cooled down and everyone got caught up on much-needed rest. A homestyle breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, and toast fueled our engines for what would be a steamy hot day of working.
One team was tasked with clearing out overgrown brush around the dorms as a few team members mowed the front lawn. Another team moved supplies and different equipment that will be used for a children’s camp in the upcoming weeks. This included moving bedding from dorm to dorm, cleaning the bathrooms, and making beds. Our last group worked on boxing and organizing different school supplies that will be taken to the Murphy Town Community Center and a local school.
After a few hours of work, we took time to experience a local farmer’s market and enjoyed interacting with all the vendors and the community. Once back at camp we continued our work until the work was finished.
