Bryce and Mercy

The Celebrate Church Impact team spent a refreshing “Culture Day” slowing down to rest and experience the beauty of God’s creation, from snorkeling at Mermaids Reef to cheering at a baseball game. This intentional break after a busy week of serving allowed them to rejuvenate and grow closer as a team.

As we enter the last few days of our time in Abaco, we were able to spend our Saturday by rejuvenating and experiencing the beauty of God’s creation during “Culture Day.” We started out the day at Mermaids Reef, where we experienced God’s creation firsthand, seeing many different fish and ocean creatures near the reefs. The ability to slow down after a week of demanding physical and emotional hardships made it easier to see and receive the Lord’s blessings.

Following this stop, we went to the local baseball field to watch and cheer for the native baseball players along with the team from Kansas City that we have been sharing camp with this week. We found great joy in supporting and seeing the individuals and coaches on the field connect with each other, even though their backgrounds and abilities varied. We have also never seen an umpire take a phone call during the game back in the States.

Celebrate Church team members form a large circle on the beach to pray over a potential permanent ministry site for Many Hands' community programs in Abaco.

We then visited the potential site for permanent facilities owned and operated by Many Hands. We were able to join in prayer as a team and individually ask that the Lord would lead the way for this upcoming decision and clear any hurdles that are in the way if it is in his plan.

Continuing on with our day, we arrived at Treasure Cay, where we were able to enjoy a meal together as a team and further experience the culture through the food and people at Treasure Cay. We enjoyed time together as a team by swimming and snorkeling in the ocean, and were in awe of sights that we had never been able to see in our lives thus far. We continue to grow closer as a team through these experiences during the trip and are forming lifelong relationships with one another.
