After our first day in Abaco, I paddled far out into the sea and sat on the board under me and looked up and saw the goodness of the Almighty God. The sun was setting, dark clouds were rolling in and I stopped, set my paddle down and asked God to show me Himself. I felt the cool breeze over the water on me. I was in awe of the picture perfect sky above me.

The sound of the waves hitting the front of the board. I realized that there is so much hidden beauty that lies beneath reality. Once you take a moment to recognize that God is in everything, it becomes alive and you start to lean into what is in front of you.

This revelation became very real as we met with certain individuals who had great need in many areas of their life. The one that stuck out to me the greatest was Erica. She was describing home life with her children and work life for herself. She made a comment that it is so easy for her to throw on a smile for work and act like everything is okay, when in reality things are rough.

She proceeded to tell us that God gave her a vision to help others in need. This was so profound to me because here was a woman who was not making ends meet for her own family, yet she was willing to give up what she could be giving to her own family to those around her with needs.

As I was reflecting, I took notice that she portrayed a characteristic of God’s heart. God freely gave His own Son to us so that we may have life. Of course, God is all-powerful and all-knowing but He gave something so precious to Him for a people who continues to rebel against Him. God knows the cost of giving up what we want to hold closest to us, but just as the sacrifice of Jesus led to life and grace for all, God is honored in all our acts of faith and obedience towards Him.

God is not only in the quiet times out on the open water by yourself, He is everywhere, but take account in every situation because God wants to reveal Himself to you. I pray for all those we impacted today and look forward to what God has for us in the coming days.
