Leaping

3  Points to Ponder

  1. Leaps are the culmination of many smaller decisions. The big, noticeable moments are built upon countless internal choices and smaller actions. What action do you need to take today, no matter how small it is?
  2. Persistence is key. True commitment means continuing to make those leaps consistently, even in the face of difficulties. Where do you need to recommit to the next leap in your life?
  3. We all have the potential for leaps. Each of us was created for a purpose, and every day presents an opportunity to pursue that purpose. What leap makes your heart beat a little faster? What would it take for you to move forward with that leap?

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” – Harriet Tubman

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, Dream, Discover.”  – Mark Twain

1 Story of Impact

Every 1,460 days, there is a worldwide leap, adding an extra day to the calendar. We often imagine leaps as sudden, dramatic moments: a hero’s daring jump, a leader’s bold venture, or a lover’s heartwarming proposal. While these external leaps capture our attention, the truth lies deeper. The world witnesses the outward leap, but it often misses the countless internal leaps that paved the way. The journey itself is the leap. Each day, we face the choice to continue moving forward, to make the small decisions that build towards our aspirations. My own story is a testament to this truth. While many see my full-time commitment to this role in November 2011 as the starting point, it was merely one of many leaps. The seeds were sown much earlier. My father’s leap of faith in going to Haiti in 1986, my own leap to embark on my first mission trip in 1998, and the covenant I made with God in 2000 to serve the Haitian people – these were all crucial leaps, laying the groundwork for what was to come. Every conversation, decision, and action, no matter how seemingly insignificant, contributed to the bigger picture. The journey is not without its challenges. In 2013 and 2014, major setbacks tested our resolve. Civil unrest in 2018 and a global pandemic threatened to derail our course. Yet, with each obstacle, we made the conscious choice to keep leaping. Our journey continued with an expansion into The Bahamas, a testament to the unwavering commitment to our cause. Every “leap” along the way, from the biggest to the smallest, has shaped our path. This message is not unique to my story. Within each of us lies the potential for leaps, both big and small. Every day presents an opportunity to align ourselves with our purpose and to take those small, consistent steps that propel us forward. Remember, the journey is the leap. Start today by deciding to be the person you were created to be. Take that leap, however small it may seem, and witness the power of consistent action in shaping your remarkable journey.
