The Kamerman-IMPACT team shares their final reflections from Abaco, Bahamas. A week filled with community, joy, and God’s purpose.
The day started with a division of labor. Half of the men went into town to clean up the pallets from the distribution center, and the other half stayed behind at camp and mowed and cleaned up the camp. The ladies were taken to CAPS (Central Abaco Primary School) to engage with students in Mrs. Mill’s classroom. I (Merridee) got to see a former student that I had tutored. It had been my prayer that I might see him. The ladies helped input books into the library and worked with small groups.
After lunch, we were given time to work on our Impact stories and enjoy the beauty of the island. Walks were taken along the beautiful water, snorkeling was enjoyed and naps were taken! Impact stories were shared later in the afternoon. What an amazing group of people! It is so encouraging to see how God speaks to each person. We have so enjoyed getting to know everyone.
Our evening was spent with the G2 students at Kirk of the Pines church. There were 60-80 students learning about God and having fun playing fruit basket upset. We were privileged to sit in the small groups of kids when they were having Bible study. They were studying Colossians. We returned to the camp for a late supper and games afterwards.
What an amazing week! It went way too fast! It has been a joy to get to know all of the people in our group and serve with Many Hands on the island of Abaco.
