3  Points to Ponder

  1. We are all a bundle of complex emotions, many times contradictory to each other. How do you balance personal emotions with a larger purpose.
  2. Have you ever felt the pull between the comfort of the familiar and the excitement of the unknown? If so, how did you navigate that decision? What are the anchors in your life?
  3. Our past influences our path, recognized or not. How can you find strength and your purpose through your past experiences?

1 Story of Impact

Sitting in the open-air restaurant, overlooking the turquoise bay in Marsh Harbour in the Bahamas, a tight knot formed within Amy’s throat. Amy is our newest missionary committing to move to Abaco towards the end of 2024. “I’m sorry to get emotional,” she began, her voice trembling slightly, “but I’m leaving something known to me, something beautiful to me, into something new. I know that season has ended, but it is hard to leave that behind.” Additional words weren’t necessary as her glistening eyes spoke volumes. Twenty years: a mosaic of experiences. From the sterile, clinical world of midwifery in the U.K. to the bustling chaos of an Indian hospital, her path had been anything but ordinary. Now, she stands at the precipice of another chapter, a blank page filled with endless possibilities and daunting unknowns. With a God-given vision for launching a robust First 1,000 Days program in the Bahamas, this is new territory for her and all of us. Yet, looking back, we see a trail of breadcrumbs – faith, perseverance, and skill – leading us to this very moment. It’s like Peter stepping out of the boat at Jesus’ command. It’s exhilarating, terrifying, and utterly compelling. We’re all on journeys, some paths clearer than others. But in these uncharted waters, doubt can be a treacherous current. It’s in holding fast to our purpose, forged in the fires of past experiences, that we find our anchor. Emotions are powerful, but Truth is our compass and our guide. Let’s trust the journey, one step at a time.

As the Founder and CEO of Many Hands, Tim Brand leads a global movement dedicated to the belief that transformation happens when people choose to be Love in Action in a broken world. Over the last decade, he has transitioned Many Hands from a grassroots start-up into a high-impact international non-profit with a $9.0 million annual operating budget. Operating across Haiti and The Bahamas, his strategy moves beyond traditional relief. Tim focuses on building the relational and physical infrastructure required for communities to shift from dependency to dignity. Today, these programs touch over 25,000 lives annually. Tim centers his daily work on professionalizing this passion by ensuring radical financial integrity, developing resilient five-year strategic plans, and fostering the exact partnerships necessary to solve complex problems in volatile environments. Under his guidance in 2026, the organization is actively pursuing the audacious goal of delivering over 5 million meals to communities facing catastrophic hunger. Known as a giver and a doer, Tim believes that God uses imperfect people and strategic discipline to bring shalom to chaos. Whether he is leading an Impact trip on the ground, overseeing a multi-million dollar construction project, or developing the Board of Directors, his ultimate mission remains unchanged: to restore what is broken and prove that no place and no person is a lost cause.
