The Grand View University students have dived headfirst into Haitian culture. The team is making quite an impression with their eagerness to learn Creole and to touch lives. We were greeted by rain showers in the morning and at night, but we still had a successful day. We started off the day by being able to bless a family with a cement floor in their home. We learned quickly how to make and pour the cement, as the Haitians gracefully taught us. They were shocked that we werenʼt afraid to get dirty and went right to work. After we finished the floor we prayed with the family and headed back to the campus to help with the First 1,000 Days program. We helped by assisting their nurse with health checks and passing medicine to the children. This was such a learning experience for us four to work beside their Haitian nurse. We were very impressed with how thorough and patient she was with the childrenʼs health checks. We ended our day by getting caught in a rain storm in town and arriving home soaked!
