From Painting to Prayer

The Kairos team took on a full day of impact, painting a local home, reading with students at CAPS, and delivering essential food distribution bags to families. Hearing the challenging life stories and witnessing the unshakeable faith of the local community deeply moved the team. Read the full daily reflection from sisters Ellie and Mycah to see how a day of hard work and intentional prayer beautifully revealed God’s love on the island!

To start off our Friday morning, five girls got the opportunity to go to the CAPS school and read with the students. The rest of the crew started a new project painting Davia Dean’s house. After a few hours of trimming on the house, everyone met at the CAPS school to have lunch and play with the students at recess! This was an awesome opportunity for everyone to interact with the students and put smiles on their faces!

In the afternoon, we finished the trim on the house, and we will be handing the project over to another group to finish up painting the siding. To wrap up our day, we had the opportunity to deliver distribution bags for families in need. This was a very eye-opening experience for us as we got to see different living conditions and listen to challenging life stories from the families we visited. We also had the opportunity to pray over the people we delivered bags to. Seeing their trust in God and positive attitudes despite the challenges they face was incredibly inspiring and reminded us of the importance of faith, compassion, and serving others!

Ellie and Mycah’s experience today: 

We had so much fun today and made so many memories while serving others. Being in the Bahamas’ hot sun while painting was such a fun, sweaty experience! Getting to spend time with the kids was definitely one of the highlights of our day. Their smiles, laughter, and excitement brought us so much joy! The girls loved braiding our hair and showing us their favorite hairstyles. Delivering distribution bags to families was also a very meaningful experience for us. Hearing their stories and praying over them really showed us strong faith and positivity, even through difficult situations. Today truly reminded us of God’s love!
