The Third Church (Pella, IA) IMPACT team was busy from fishing right away in the morning to getting work done around Camp Abaco, to distributing food, and continuing on house construction projects. Hear all the details from their days from the Three Amigoes: Alan, Keith, and Jon!
Started the day with a great breakfast and devotions by Julie. Tim and Ryan were successful in their fishing expedition, spearing a Lion fish and several others. After breakfast we spent a couple of hours cleaning and repairing things at the camp including using the new Cat skid steer that arrived last night.
Later we met at Kirk of the Pines, a local church, to distribute bags of food for 6 Haitian families in a poverty stricken area, where many are staying illegally because they don’t have the correct paperwork to get jobs. Hunger is a big problem and Many Hands tries to reach out and uplift the ones they can through the local church.
After lunch, we continued our day with construction on two homes which are still being repaired 5 years after Hurricane Dorian. We put up sheet rock , applied mud, and sanded. Some of the ladies handed out fliers for an upcoming Many Hands reading picnic event.
We finished our afternoon with more cleanup at the camp moving trees, trash, and rocks.
A select few were rewarded with a stop at a local ice cream shop. Excellent choice!
