Join Eric and the InOnTime IMPACT team for Day 3 of their time in Abaco as they experience the joy of rebuilding a home and hear heartwarming stories from the local school. Discover the fulfilling experiences of teamwork, teaching, and community as the team embraces each day with gratitude.

When we arrived this past Saturday, it was cool and windy; many of us northerners were concerned that we had underpacked and lacked warm clothes. But the weather progressively warmed over the past two days, and yesterday, several of us were sweating quite a lot while working on Zhivargo’s house (our second day working on this home).

We have a very fun group to work with, with people from Colorado, Iowa, and Michigan ranging in age from 19 to over 60 — all having fun while we work. The house is coming along well; we are nearly complete with hanging the exterior siding, and our interior crew is very close to being done with drywall mudding and sanding. We are really hoping to get the siding complete before we go, but with all of the intricate cuts involved, we are a little behind schedule on our goal.

While half of our group worked on Zhivargo’s home, three of the ladies went to assist at a local school, Central Abaco Primary School (CAPS). It was so fun to hear Judy’s recap of teaching the class and how many of the students swarmed to her after having fond memories of her teaching them last year. One of the school leaders asked Judy if she could plan on teaching extensively while she is here for the next 4 weeks. She was excited for the opportunity, and Dave deeply encouraged her when they were together for dinner. We heard about Carrie’s teaching experiences at school and were also fascinated by Leesa’s story of how she taught a student to count by twos. While construction was more my style, it was a blessing to hear the ladies’ experiences.

It was another wonderful day!
