Farmers markets, Blue Hole swims, beach volleyball, and bonfires—the Haven Church IMPACT team’s cultural day in Abaco had it all! Get a peek into their incredible experiences with Erin and Nancy’s recap.

The morning BUMP was iced lattes, guava rolls, fresh vegetables, conch fritters, jalapeno cheese bread, cookies and cinnamon cream cheese donuts from the local farmers market….yum!

Ready, get SET, jump!  A wooded, narrow, bumpy two-track road led the group to a foot path which opened to a 400+  foot deep fresh water swimming hole – officially known as the Blue Hole.  Friendly swimming races ensued along with cannonballs, assorted dives, floating in tubes, and relaxing on the “shore.” This experience provided a refreshing respite after 3 hard days of work.

An appetite was worked up by all – satisfied by  Bahamian cuisine at Pete’s Pub.  “Island Time” was also included, but the wait was worth it…..yum, yum!

“I got it!” It’s mine!” “Out!” SPIKE!!  Beach volleyball at Driftwood Farm was the perfect ending to a fulfilling day.  Friendships deepened over a delicious fried chicken dinner, “nukem” volleyball, ice cream and a roaring bonfire.

The beauty of God’s creation in Abaco will remain forever in our hearts.

This profile represents the collective voice of our Many Hands Impact teams. The reflections shared here are written by everyday individuals, from students and parents to local community members, who have traveled to Haiti and Abaco to experience the mission firsthand. They are not full-time staff. They are volunteers stepping out in faith to be love in action. In these posts, you will read raw, unpolished stories of personal transformation. Our guest writers document the shared humanity discovered while working alongside local leaders on safe structures, education initiatives, and community development. Impact trips are designed to change the participant as much as the community they serve. Through their words, you get a front row seat to the exact moments people discover their purpose and learn to live with intention.
