3 Points to Ponder
- In all situations, we have the power to be a taker or a giver. Beyond receiving, how am I actively being a blessing to others in my daily life?
- Simple generosity is powerful. What small, intentional acts of generosity could I incorporate into my routine that might create a ripple effect of good?
- Live a life worth emulating– one where your actions speak louder than words. If your life were a lesson, what are you teaching, and do those lessons truly reflect your values?

1 Story of Impact
On June 28, my mother turned 80. I’ve written about her before, but on this milestone birthday, Mom did something both simple and profound. After opening her presents and listening to each person share a story about her impact, she said, “I have something I want to share with you all.”
“Not everyone gets to see their 80th birthday. Grandpa didn’t,” she continued. “And I feel so incredibly blessed to still be a part of your lives. Given all the blessings I have received, I want you to open these envelopes.”
Inside my blue envelope, a hand-drawn card awaited (my mom is an artist, after all). These words were written inside: “Enclosed is $80 that I would like you to use to bless someone. Use it to bless someone: a person in need, a stranger whose meal you pay for, a waiter receiving a generous tip, or a charity close to your heart. It can be split up and used any way you wish. Whatever you choose is up to you. Just bless someone with this money, and if you want to share what you did, I would love to hear about it. You have all been such a wonderful blessing to me; now go and bless someone else!”
On a day meant for her celebration, Mom flipped the script. She redefined what blessings truly look like. One of the most selfless people I’ve ever met, Mom embodies this generosity each day. Her actions spoke volumes: thinking of others, being generous, and challenging the next generation to be helpers for someone else. These weren’t just words; they were lived values.
As you think about your own story, what actions are you taking today to bless others? In a world screaming, “It’s all about me” and “I deserve this,” blessing others stands out. It’s a far more perfect way to live—a path that elevates goodness, compassion, and pure love.
Remember, we are blessed so we can be a blessing to others.
