Today we got to take part in the first ever Reading Picnic at the Murphy Town Community Center. We had about 10 kids at first but then about 5 more came a little later. We read a few books, did a small skit about the Good Samaritan, and played games with them. It was really fun to get to know the kids and other members of the community. We ended the morning by playing some pick-up basketball with some new friends. We won!

After lunch, we had the opportunity to distribute bags of groceries to families and individuals in need. One group stopped at the home of a man who lives at the dump in a camper trailer. It was incredible to see how much the supplies we provided with him really helped.

The second group was able to visit a family who lived in a small house. They were so joyful and thankful to be alive because their previous house collapsed on top of them during Hurricane Dorian, but they all survived. At the end of the visit, the groups prayed with the people. We found it so eye-opening just to hear what they asked us to pray for. All they asked for was well-being for themselves and other people in the community.

It was so encouraging to meet the people and see the peace and joy that they had in Christ. They all had such beautiful stories to share with us.
