3 Points to Ponder
- “Be the friend you wish you had to someone else. It doesn’t matter if they return the favor to you, as that is their choice. The more you do this, the stronger your ability to love well becomes. Where can you be a better friend to someone?”
- “Your actions, not just your thoughts, define your true friendship. It is easy to think, but so much harder to do. Be the person who is love in action.”
- “Everyday, there are opportunities to be a friend to someone. It is up to us what we do with that choice. How do you typically choose? Have you thought about this lately?”

1 Story of Impact
I get to do life with some pretty amazing people. This week, I helped move my dad out of the hospital and back to his home under the care of hospice. He is on his final leg of the journey in this life, but that is a story for another day. What I do want to talk about today is the power of our personal connections. I posted this information about Dad on Facebook and was overwhelmed with the response from so many people. As I write this, I’ve had over 425 likes and 158 genuine, loving, and caring comments. Not just the emoji praying symbol. I’ve received texts and phone calls. People have prayed over me at restaurants and school gymnasiums. I’ve read every single comment and they’ve meant so much to me and my family, as we know we aren’t alone on this journey. And in complete transparency, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to post anything, as this felt really private. But, as I thought on this, I also realized people deserved to feel this with me. They needed the opportunity to grieve or offer words of support. Sometimes, we try so hard to protect people, we end up hurting them by not letting them into our pain. They deserved to know, as they loved me and/or my dad, and to rob them of that opportunity seemed very selfish. Our connection to each other has far more power than we can imagine, especially when it is wrapped in love. This week, I’ve felt an outpouring of love during a deep time of hurt. When we remember we belong to each other, it is a beautiful thing. In light of all that is going on in your world, how do you demonstrate love to others? What is one way you can connect with someone in a special way this week?
