3  Points to Ponder

  1. “It is the daily, little acts of intentionality that separate the average from the great. How intentional are you with your activities?”
  2. “Invest in a great pen and some quality paper. Then, write your story for yourself and the people you love. It will multiply your joy more than the stock market. Are you taking the time to write your thoughts? If not, why?”
  3. “People need encouragement. And reminders they are seen by you. Who needs to know they are seen by you this week?”

“There’s perfect imperfection in the scrawl of a handwritten note or letter.” – Ink Meets Paper

“Sending a handwritten letter is becoming such an anomaly. It’s disappearing. My mom is the only one who still writes me letters. And there is something visceral about opening a letter – I see her on the page. I see her in her handwriting.” – Steve Carell

1 Story of Impact

This week, I had a little bit of a breather, so I dug into a long-overdue desk clean-out time. It is amazing the folders, papers, and various things that grow on and inside your desk! I know papers aren’t living objects, but I swear they are breeding in there like rabbits when I close the drawer. As I was tossing items, I came across a stack of something I never toss out – handwritten notes. I stopped cleaning and started reading. Memories of the past came flooding back. Conversations had. Meals shared. Projects accomplished together. And I thought to myself, You know what I don’t go back and read? Text messages. Emails. These handwritten notes are like gold to me. In a time of technology, when speed and efficiency win the day, the power of the handwritten note is even greater than in years past. It shows intentionality. Seeing the written curves of the letters. It just lands differently. How good are you at writing handwritten notes? If you aren’t a high school graduate, when is the last time you’ve written one? Do me a favor this week and send a handwritten note to someone you care about. Stop and think about who needs a touch of good this week? Then act on it.
