1 Story of Impact

This past week, I was in Abaco Island, Bahamas, preparing for the 2023 ministry launching in this location. On Saturday, we took a ferry out to the quaint town of Hopetown, located on Elbow Cay. As we explored the Cay, we stumbled upon this old church with a picturesque view of the Atlantic Ocean. When we walked to the back of the church, a simple cross caught my attention. It wasn’t elegant or extravagant, much like the real cross. Although the cross is now a beautified symbol of the Christian faith, we must remember it was an instrument of brutal death. So much pain and grotesque suffering happened on a cross. When I looked through the cross on that Hopetown beach, the beauty behind it was stunning. Breathtakingly beautiful, in fact. The real cross is the same way. When we look at what is behind the cross, the love of God to send His Son to die for you and me, it is breathtakingly beautiful. The very punishment that brought us peace was upon Him. By His wounds, we are healed. I found it fitting that in Hopetown, God revealed a unique picture for me as we kick off this Christmas Season. For it is when we understand the cross, we grasp the meaning of Christmas. True beauty is through the cross. There is always hope, friends. Always.
