3 Points to Ponder
- Most of us feel like we are running in three directions at once and none of them truly are where we are. If you look back at this past couple of weeks, where has your attention gone and are you happy with that?
- Sometimes, we need to take a deep breath, take our shoes off, feel the earth, and engage our senses. Yes, we are alive and right here. What practices can I incorporate into my daily life to be more present?
- Those around us suffer the most from our lack of being present. Who are the people in my path today, and how can I show them I see them?

1 Story of Impact
If you’ve been on a recent Impact Trip with us, you’ve heard Laura Johnson’s powerful words to “be where your feet are planted.” Too many of us can’t be present because we are distracted. Distracted by something we hang onto in our past, an unarrived future, or trying to be in two (or three or more) places simultaneously. By not being present, we choose not to be all in to the people and experiences around us, causing disconnect, hurt, anxiousness, fear, and regret. The story of Christ restoring Peter is all about being where your feet are planted. Jesus knew Peter and connected by going back to the beginning through fishing. He served by making breakfast and utilizing resources they caught. He then asked Peter three times, in different ways, “Do you love me?” washing away the previous three times Peter denied him. It was intentional. And because of this restoration, Peter was re-established as the rock on which Christ’s church was built. How are you doing with being where your feet are planted? In what ways are you being intentional to see those in your path? Just like Jesus, we can use our current situation to connect with people around us. Use this as a wake-up call to break free from the chains of a distracted mind and step fully into the present moment.
