3 Points to Ponder
- Challenges will come our way, yet we can’t let them deter us from our grander vision. In what areas of your life do you need to refocus on the grander vision and not the circumstances at hand?
- Inspiration is all around us when we have eyes to see. What has inspired you lately?
- Sometimes, we need to walk in the rain to witness the most vibrant rainbows. Right now, are you more focused on the rain or the rainbow to follow?

1 Story of Impact
Last month, I was finally able to return to Haiti after a long absence of 16 months. One of my Haitian friends, Joslin, is a true inspiration. He’s overcome so much, and his story is a testament to the human spirit. On a typical Saturday, Joslin wakes up and pedals his hand-driven cart to our campus for his job. After a long day of work, he pedals the same distance home, a journey that would take most people 35 minutes by foot. But for Joslin, walking isn’t an option as he is unable to do so. Just incredible. One day, we wanted to gain a better understanding of Joslin’s daily life, so we decided to walk home with him. Due to other commitments, we met him halfway back and started the trek together. As we walked, a light rain began to fall and a breathtaking rainbow suddenly appeared in the sky. It was the most vibrant and awe-inspiring rainbow I had ever seen. When we arrived at Joslin’s home, we were greeted by a beautiful garden he had cultivated. There were rows of spinach growing in raised garden beds and a papaya tree thriving in a repurposed spare tire. Joslin then invited Christi and me to the back of his two-bedroom house, built by Many Hands, for a private conversation. He said, “I’ve been thinking about my plot of land. It is near a river and I’d like to expand, but I need water. If I had a water pump, I could increase my production. And I need to do this because someday, I want to be married and I will need to provide for my family.” Wow, talk about hopes and dreams for a future despite circumstances. As it says in Matthew 17, “If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Joslin, you are the rainbow amid the rain.
