See how the Haven Christian Reformed Church IMPACT Team balanced hard work on local houses with a fun Culture Day. Some team members worked on two homes, while others visited a farmers’ market, had lunch at a stunning beach, and played volleyball! Read on to hear about their Culture Day experiences.
Psalm 46:10 “He says, Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations.”
The day started with warm weather and a beautiful sunrise. We split into two groups, and the first group continued hard work on a few houses. At Tracy’s house, they worked on siding, insulation, drywall, door installation, and plumbing. People at the other house, Pastor Knowles’, worked on finishing touches by installing an entrance gate to his garden that will have a bible verse on it and a cross, and finishing touches to the drywall.
The other group had a Culture Day experience. They went to a farmers’ market and another souvenir gift shop. At the farmers’ market, there were eight vendors with a variety of items, including baked goods, craft items, and fresh produce.
After that, we went to a potential property for a new campus for Many Hands. This is a beautiful location where our group was able to spend time walking and praying over the land, so we can look to the Lord for guidance.
Then we traveled a few more miles to have an oceanfront lunch at Treasure Cay, one of the 10 best beaches in the world. There we played some beach volleyball until it began to rain, so we decided to go back to camp. We got back and ate a delicious pork chop dinner that had some fresh vegetables from Gedeon Farms. Miss Lula and Miss Doreen really impressed us with their amazing cooking skills.
After that, we always end our day with an Impact session, which was highlighted by a story from one of our leaders that guided him to follow God’s call. We had an emotional prayer over him, followed by an update on our activities for tomorrow.
